Winslow Homer and the Magic of Maine - Portland Museum of Art
Spend the morning at the Museum beginning with an introduction to Winslow Homer, American Master, and his pivotal role in American art. Winslow Homer spent the final two decades of his life capturing the rugged coastline of Maine. The introduction includes an hour's slide presentation/lecture in the museum's auditorium geared just for our group. Then, visit the Museum's collections of 19th and 20th-century art (on your own or with a docent) to compare Homer to other great painters including Frederic Church, John Singer Sargent, and Mary Cassatt.
